Make note of the fact that in order to post to the Snow Age boards, you will have to have made a character application, and you will have to have been approved for each individual character you apply to - the maximum amount of characters you can have claim to at one time is three. However, for the AU boards you are free to post as you like, as whom you like, without applications. There is a separate post for AU board rules, though - have a look at that before you go play.
1. No godmodding. Godmodding includes both working another character's actions without reason, or also reading a character's thoughts without explanation
2. All threads should be conducted in full prose, and please take special note to include both your character's thoughts/emotions as well as their outward reactions - this way everyone is clear on your character's motivations.
3. Please do not write out accents - for instance, Leliana's Orlesian accent should be noted outside of speech, not written out via "Ah, yes, she ees over zhere." Unusual speech issues that are not typical of the character should be though - for instance, a lisp caused by a dental problem or something similar.
4. Please keep OOC chatter to OOC threads.
5. Please keep some loyalty to the original character - the new 'verse should alter your character's biography or motivations, but not their entire personality.
6. Snow Age 'Verse threads should be held in the present tense, in third person, as a general rule (in AU threads you need only adhere to the tense and narrative set by the first poster).
7. If you're writing a long response, make sure to paragraph and space appropriately for the comfort of those reading. It is not a requirement to match posts length for length, but please try to meet them effort for effort - please, take your time and flesh out your response. Any wait will be worth it.
8. Please do not overuse the font colour, bold, italic and underline options, as well as the other text altering options. Please, where possible, use them sparingly for emphasis or for short passages - an overly "creative" response can be very difficult to read. Your post does not need to be fancy - you don't have to meet with formatting crazes to be found on Tumblr, for instance, with small text and numerous symbols.
9. When writing a longer plot where people change location, change boards to the new location and please be sure to link the new thread in the different board (the titles should match) in the most recent entry of the first thread.

Please note that all threads undertaken in the Snow Age threads will become part of the Snow Age's Canon. The mods will compile a rough summary of events that have occurred in the Snow Age each week - for your reference, that is users tseecka, DictionaryWrites, friendsheyho, sweetlibertea and Birdie. You are encouraged to regularly update your bios with new occurrences, and to link back to previous events. It is also acceptable to reference other events in separate threads if there is a plausible way for your character to have heard about the incident on the grapevine - for instance, Anders could have heard about Zevran and Jethann having drinks together in the Blooming Rose from one of the prostitutes working there.
One should not make assumptions about any named characters, though, even if no one currently plays those characters. The same is in bios as is in threads; we do not wish to make assumptions about characters that have not yet joined and force them to add events that do not fit their version of their character, or to have those things retconned, as both would make continuity a struggle. Public figures can be referenced before they are played - for instance, the First Enchanter, the Grand Cleric, etc. but they should be mentioned vaguely and not in ways that might make later players struggle to incorporate events into their characterization.

The mods reserve the right to alter or add to these rules at any time, as is necessary, so please check them regularly. If you do not obey the rules you will receive warnings from one of our mods, which might include posts being deleted; continued ignoring of the rules could lead to your losing certain board privileges and, ultimately, your membership being terminated with us. When rules are amended or added to, a mass PM will be sent out by one of the mods to notify you.

Please follow standard naming conventions when titling your threads:
- OPEN or CLOSED - OPEN threads are available for anyone to post in, as any character, at any time. CLOSED threads are private threads between members--they can be read by anyone, but no one other than the established participants is permitted to post.
- Thread Title - Give your thread a name. This helps to navigate for both players and for casual readers - as you move from location to location, this title should correspond. You should link to the new thread as you move. (E.g. Zevran and Jethann are playing in The Well-Hung Man, and the thread is titled, "Lacklustre Laziness". When Zevran and Jethann go to the Sundermount for a moonlight rave, a new thread should be started on the corresponding board with the same title, and a link to the new thread should be left as the most recent response on the former. This makes it easier to navigate longer threads where locations change regularly.)
- FREEFORM or GMED - This distinguishes what type of RP you plan to use for your thread. FREEFORM is open, structureless writing, with no GM, no use of stats or other gameplay mechanics--essentially, collaborative storytelling. GMed threads may make use of a narrator to control NPCs, a stats or combat system, and other gameplay mechanics similar to what might be seen in a DnD campaign.
- Triggers - Please note any triggers that may be present in your thread, such as mention of rape, suicide, self-harm, etc. We want to encourage people to play out the stories that matter to them, but it is also important to ensure that no one accidentally stumbles upon reading an RP that negatively affects their mental state!
